When I go someplace that I’m unfamiliar with I:
1) go on one of the discount sites — expedia, travelocity, hotels.com — and find a motel that has the amenities I want (i.e. pool, breakfast, sofabed, etc.) , in the area I want to be in… I note the price, but don’t yet book.
2) once I target hotels, I ALWAYS read guest reviews. If they’re consistently bad, I don’t consider staying there
3) when I figure out the hotel I want, I’ll go on their direct site, and see if I can get a better rate than through the discounter, by using my AAA discount. (Since my husband is retired military, I check the military discount, too.)
4) I’ll book the hotel I want, where I get the cheapest rate

Since nobody knows where in Atlanta you want to be, nobody can give you a precise recommendation. Try my method. You’ll end up in a nice place, paying a fair price!

I use http://www.resideo.com/us/georgia/atlanta/ Select your dates, then you can sort the results by price, rating or distance from a particular point-of-interest (Atlanta is a big place, what are you looking to do while you’re there)?

Hope that helps!
